The Ascent Of Life Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

The Ascent Of Life

I march alone upon the trail of time,
Now scale the steep, now plunge in chasms deep;
Grim silence guards the mind's secluded clime,
As deathly glaciers fall and shadows creep.

If tempests rage, the guiding lamp will die,
The freezing blast contends for mortal breath;
Dark clouds and heavy mists obscure the sky,
Yet firm in soul, I brave the march of death.

Far off, Great Everest breaks the cloudy floor,
The North Star burns to guide my waking sight;
I shall transcend these barriers at the door,
And sing the hymn of life into the night.

Though perils press, my steps shall never yield;
I'll touch the peak before my doom is sealed.
