The Baby's Smile Poem by Kaki Venugopala Rao

The Baby's Smile

The baby smiles
-A toothless,
Cherubic,
Radiant
Smile;
A smile
In which
God reveals
Himself
So miraculously,
Angels dance
So gracefully,
A million roses
Bloom
So colorfully,
Myriad Moons
Shine
So brightly,
Beauty
And bliss
Hand
In hand
Appear
So wondrously;
I wish
I could possess
That guileless,
Seraphic
Smile
Of the baby;
Alas/that
Divine smile
Beyond me
To attain,
For I am
A grown-up
Lost in the world,
So mundane,
So deceitful.
