SORRY, I CAN'T EXTEND MY HAND TO YOU

I am sorry,
I can't extend my hand to you
For companionship,
You are there
At my door standing,
Smiling, stretching
Out your hand at me,
Waiting to be my pal:
I know you are so dangerous,
Dreadful, quite unworthy
Of friendship with me;

Once man invites you
Into his life and enters
Into companionship with you,
Man loses his true self,
Becomes false,
A bloated self he turns
With his heart steeled,
His mind blocked,
You break all human relationships,
Create foes out of friends,
You bring along with you
Your dreadful band of friends,
Anger, greed, hatred, rancour,
Impatience, cruelty
And destroy everything
That's beautiful in man's life,
You lead man's life
Into the hell of sorrow;

I am sorry, Mr. Ego,
I can't welcome you
Into my life,
I can't accept your companionship,
Go away, never come into my sight,
Let me be a soul,
Simple, true and natural
As created by God.
