The Ballot Box Defiance Poem by RAZACK BAKALI

The Ballot Box Defiance

By Lazack Bakali

From years ago,
As a country, we have never met
A ruling style like this.
Unlike what other countries do,
What we know
Is what you think you must know.
What we need
Is what you must do,
But you fail to supply.

Look! No water—
How can we survive?
As well as no forex.
Only the fat seeds
Are consuming the forex,
While we, the owners of the land,
Are getting nothing.

Be careful.
We are the ones
Who put you where you are.
Because when we call,
You claim to be too busy,
Although a time will come when you will need us.

Our children
Are still sick, searching for the Pearl.
There are no school fees,
No pocket money,
And no gas for cooking—
No stomach charger
To give our better halves strength,
So that they can go out
Hunting for the Pearls.

But do not worry,
Even though there is no fuel,
Not even the essential lights
For our boys hunting
For a mansion
To make a living.

But do not worry,
Through the paper ballot,
We are going to eliminate you
From the chairs of the honourable.
Kkk! You will stop
Dancing like a mouse
On an abundance of maize bags
