The Beast Poem by Ebenezer Ampadu

The Beast

A voice called in the dark,
pressing me to discover
The riddle was posed
He stated he was man,
And the other a beast

Empty as oblivion, I searched Africa, Europe and the East, and discovered half-spirits

In the far west, I became wisdom!
I grew to know the voice
The voice became a pig
He squealed into the night
He took mud baths
He taunted to feast or died at the feast
He approached, caliginous as envy, tamed only by the River Styx

At last, in the Pearly West, he revealed himself
I looked at his form
The voice —— was a heartless beast!
