The Bed Of A Modern Man Poem by Brian (Yaotzu) Bungcayao

The Bed Of A Modern Man

Rating: 5.0

Where has the quiet gone?
Aching for the mouths of bickering beast to swallow their own tongs.
Envisioning the flames of crashing cars from drivers with no respect to the human foot.
Slipping cotton into my ears to nullify the sounds of tone def ogres with karaoke machines.

Four profanities flutter between the pillow over my ears and all time sits still.
Finally the sweet sound of silence echoes in the night.
But eluded by the thought of silence ever making a sound
The clicks of geckos in heat begin to drill into my head.
Crickets free from their constant threats begin to celebrate,
And I join in with my acoustic head banging against the wall.

I catch a glimpse of father time limping the early night sky into position
But the sounds of barking dogs chases him into the morning hours.
Struggling to catch up, I force my eyes closed and pre-write my dreams,
Yet its no use. The sun has awaken and so must everyone around me.

Sleep deprive and fatigued I greet the day with a song to wake my wits up.
The loud jargon of screaming men with guitars jump starts my circuitry.
With The key at had ready to hit ignition, my eyes fade and my head falls limp
The Sand Man laughs while Father time calls me an idiot,
But I have found the modern mans lullabies and the idiots bed.
