The Berlin Wall Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

The Berlin Wall

Along the depths of the darkest nights
Rises a thunder
As bright as daylight

And beneath it shines
A million slaves
Crowding, shivering in the rain and snow
Willing to cross into the unknown

Where freedom is for free
Over those bricks and bullets
Into West Berlin

The wall stands mighty
And divides in cruelty
A people
Seeking liberty

Many did try
Again and again
Years apart
To see the light
That this wall did divide

Those who made
To the other side
Came to see
The lord's delight

A land
As promised
Free and fair
To all humanity
Being oppressed
In times
As dark as ours

Freedom lies
Over that wall
You and I must
Break free
From these chains
That bind us

They took my father
They took my sister
My mother they burned
In those communist pyres

Berlin wall
Stands strong
Berlin wall
I must go across

No more fear
No more tears
For across these walls
Is what I hold dear

Freedom comes
Through the first light
As I stumble and crawl
To the other side

God bless
The land
Where I am free

God bless
The people
Living in democracy
