Like flesh ripped off bones
The naked sun
Burns down on us
The railroads crackle under the heavy trains
As we sit by the tracks
We sip mango shakes and share homework
We exchange chemistry notes
The dusty hot air
Dries our tongues
The city streets on the verge of splitting under the weight of summer
And through it all
We never really realized
Some of the best seasons we had outlived
