The Bird Window Poem by Joan Nash

The Bird Window

Rating: 5.0

Once in a while
A bird slams against
The big window
At the front of this house.
It's too bad.

The neighbor screams and waves
Her broom.
I'd like to send her a witch hat.

One afternoon, while sitting
On the floor -
I caught her walking up to the window
Picking up a dead bird.

I'd have never expected that from her.
She walked back
Dead bird on broom straws -
To her house, while laughing.

You think she needed some Hallowe'en decor?
