The Blow Poem by ODESANMI ODEYEMI

The Blow

I striked a blow today
Against sweet corruption:
I gifted a cop kola
To paint a dirty deed!

When the road read rust
And alcohol stole my head,
A predator my car became
Wasting a prey.

The cop took me
On a ride of blackmail
To save me from the fangs of death.
He initiated the throes of crime.

The dilemma:
Nights as a feed to winged singers
Or a bulge in the cop's thigh.

Why dive into an edge of insanity
When the hands of the cop
Calls only for a contact
Of the palms and pockets?

Where is the sin
Throwing a drop
In the ocean of corruption
When its condemner
Courted it with thankful of manner?

Why not spit my shame
In the palm of the law
When the law
Has initiated the truce?

This blow is too hard for me
But my neck must be
Saved the noose!
