The Bone Of The House Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Bone Of The House

in the house
he is a bone,

not a flesh on
the side

dogs outside are
waiting

he is not the
kind of bone

that any dog
wants,

the useless bone
in the kitchen

mere shadow of
the soup-stock

left-over of the flesh
inside the garbage can.
