The Book Gypsy Poem by Tara Hills

The Book Gypsy

Rating: 5.0

I am the Book Gypsy
I travel the world from a single room
I've sailed the seas and explored the jungles
Climbed the mountains and traversed the rivers
Won and lost a million battles
Been a warrior and an elf
And all because a book left the shelf
I am the Book Gypsy
No walls can hold me down

I am the Book Gypsy
I've lived a million years
Explored the hearts of cities and cried ten thousand tears
I've been a million people
Seen a hundred million things
Been the hero of a nation and a much beloved queen
And all because a book left its place upon a shelf
I am the Book Gypsy
I dream so many dreams

I am the Book Gypsy
This story is my song
For I have been both scholar and artist
I've written the scientist's law
My journey's never ending for there's always more to see
Another carpet ride to take, another dream to weave
And all because a book leaves its home upon a shelf
I am the Book Gypsy
And this is where I dream

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am, and have always been, a bookworm. I rather think that's a good thing though.
