In the cool of evening, when shadows dance and play
A boy swam in the stream, with a heart in a loving way
His eyes, like a sunrise, shone bright and warm as day
His smile, a gentle breeze, that soothed hearts and stole the fray
A girl came to fetch water, with a heart so pure
But saw the boy, and her heart was forever sure
She longed to be near, to bask in his radiant glow
But fear and doubt crept in, like a thief in the night's shadow
She never expected, in her wildest dream
To see a stranger with a heart that could beam
Was he a wanderer, or a town's own son?
Her thoughts lingered, like the stream's gentle run
The boy, with a heart so shy and true,
Tried to step forward, but his feet felt in glue
The weight of fear, that held him in place
Silenced his voice, and hid his gentle face
He wondered if she, was a stranger or a friend
If their paths would cross, or if their love would end
He feared he'd never see her, again in his life
And the thought lingered, like a knife
Each went back their way, unable to break free
From the shackles of fear, that held their hearts in misery
Their love remained a whisper, a silent, hidden sigh
A missed opportunity, that passed them by
In their chambers, they reflected on the sight
Ruing the chance, that they let slip into night
They vowed to return, to the stream's gentle flow
Hoping luck would shine, and their paths would glow
But days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months
Their efforts futile, like autumn leaves that wither and doubt
They searched for a glimpse, of each other's face
But fate seemed to hide, their love's destined place
Their hearts still yearned, like a flame that burns bright
But the distance grew, like a dark and endless night
They wondered if love, was just a distant dream
And their hearts remained, in a silent dream
But still they hoped, like a flower in the night
To bloom again, and shine with all their might
For in the stream's embrace, they found a peaceful place
Where love's gentle current, could erase the space
Though their paths may never cross, again in this life
But in dreams, they'll meet, in the stream's gentle strife
A love that was whispered, not more than a dream
A memory that lingers, of the boy from the stream.
