The Boy Who Looked Like Me Poem by Samuel Flegons

The Boy Who Looked Like Me

I was young, maybe two or three
When I stumbled upon this mystery
An inch away in a glassy space
Was a boy my height, my size and face.

His hair was curly just like mine
His eyes though filmy was just fine
He looked so flimsy yet somehow strong
He stood there looking small and young

This resemblance had baffled me
And I waited for an epiphany
Which turned out to be my mummy
Who stopped by and casually said 'darling it's just your reflection'.

So the boy who so much looked like me
This boy I stared at in bewilderment
Not long after the enlightenment
I cried 'the boy who looked like me was me'.
