The Breakup Poem by Katheryn Foley

The Breakup

Come home thinking this week couldn't get worse,

Taking the next day off by myself,

I spend the day relaxing but I'm in a haze,

I clean myself up for you, take the time to live up to you,

Not knowing what you were planning,

I came into your presence unshaken,

I guess you never noticed cuz you broke my heart in the midst,

Never saw it coming, slammed me like a stone wall,

If only you knew what I had gone through only a couple days before,

Maybe I would mean something more,

A broken heart inside, just can't run and hide, cuz your still here.

Sleepless nights arrive at my door, I let them through not knowing anymore what else to do.

Crazy how the world can be so cruel,

Not even understanding who you have become this heartache took over so fast.

Never ending let downs, Nobody else to run to.

There is no help available, But if someone could just let me break down.

I'll show you what I'm really about.
