The Brexit Poem Poem by Paul Basford

The Brexit Poem

In 2016 David Cameron said
Shall we get out of the Euro bed
A referendum for the millions
Many people had strong opinions

48 was a good score but 52 said "where's the door"

Mr Cameron said I'm out I guess
I'll leave some one else to sort this mess
Teresa May went to the palace
And was handed the poisoned chalice
3 years on and she looks 20 years older
With the DUP breathing over her shoulder

Brexit Brexit Mays dilemma
This could run until September
Brexit Brexit, where do we belong
If your not sure just sing along

Laura Kuenssberg and Andrew Marr
They didn't think it would go this far
Jeremy Corbyn, well he's just balmy
At least that's what they think in the Army

Michel Barnier and Jean Claude Junckers
All the EU think we're bonkers
Brexit Brexit when will it arrive
You can't even get odds from Bet365

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was bemused with the twists and turns of the Brexit process whilst watching the news recently and decided to write a short poem in the style of a music lyric. I hope it will bring a smile!
