The Bride Poem by Kavitha Krishnamurthy

The Bride

An alluring bride
Dressed in a splendid attire
Waits whole night
For her groom to arrive

Her beauty exudes
A congenial peace
A little glance
Seizes the breath

As numerous eyes
Turn towards her side
Shyly she hides
Behind her veil

But the air
Smells of betrayal
As there is no sign of him
Whole night, she cries

Then she vanishes
Without a trace
Oh how I pity
How I wait
For the expected meet

As the days pass
As the nights pass
I can feel her near
I can see her coming

There she is
Dressed in her bridal gown
Again she waits
Will the fate recur?

I ponder
As I see the night sky
With the striking full moon
