The Bridge You Walked In Poem by Nehla Jameel

The Bridge You Walked In

I lied in a haunted river,
Where no boats were seen.
Days and nights din't differ,
And I was in my routine.
All i had was patience,
It was sinking in,
Brought it the frustrations
With every blow of wind.
For a second,
I could recognize the day,
Beauty as in heaven
Out there it laid.
I felt a soft footstep
Walking forth my draughted skin.
I, the bridge wanted to check,
Was that the Angel who walked in?
An Angel with magical hands,
Bloomed the flowers and greened my land,
She walked on me with a single plan,
To throw away the filthy sand.
I waited for her every day,
I dreamt about her every night,
She gave me a reason to say
'I want to feel every light'
A day without her presence
Seemed like there was no life,
I reached to the heaven
Each time she helped me survive.
Soon she has to leave,
Departure is painful.
After the love I recieved,
I learnt to be Grateful.
