The Campaign Poem by Olawale Owoeye

The Campaign

(Instruction: read from the beginning to the end.)

Do not see me that way!
I hate when people
See me as a thief

To make your white teeth dazzle
I'll do everything not
To torment you,
Things will not fall apart.
It saddens when you think
Everything will not be fine.

I love you!
So do not think
I hate you all and want doom flying like Alapandede*

Never will life be hard.
Do not think that
The sun will at you frown its brows,
The moon will on you shed her tears,
The rain will fall and become flood,
Sons will dupe their fathers,
Fathers will rape mothers and daughters

Think not of suffering.
It is dangerous to
Be insecure!

I'm not a thief.
It is bad to say
I'm a thief!

(Instruction: now read from bottom to top.)
