The Channel Of A Losing Whereabouts Poem by Chester Maynes

The Channel Of A Losing Whereabouts

I left a note on a distant channel
Lost and can’t find my way home
Yesterday I saw you standing in a shade
But you never cared to look at me
When rain starts to fall
And I get through a wake-up call
You made a disappearing
Your voice is vague and unheard
Now on this road to a choice of life
I never can imagine where you are
Every night all prayers are uttered
That I will see you one day
And even if tomorrow comes
I come screaming your name
‘Til I can shout no more and die
But your whereabouts is unknown
Gone crazy here looking for you
I numb my heart to love some other
This piece of love here never shatters
And sunshine comes, more sunsets go
How could I go on staying here without you?
I am quietly crying over your losing whereabouts
How can I reach you?
Your channel I don’t seem to know
