The Cherished Plant Poem by Illustrious Inker

The Cherished Plant

Rating: 5.0

I got a plant from my friend
When she went away for a weekend
'I really like it! ' I said
With the pot in my hand, she left

There were a couple of outgrowths
And some leaves on the tree.
I watered, nurtured, and cherished it
And it was my new ecstasy.

Time went by
We weren't meant to be together forever
Though half-hearted, I returned it with a smile
And said 'Good Bye'

I was so fascinated by the plantlet
That I decided to purchase one myself.
'I really like it! ' I said
With the pot in my hand, I left.

It had large long leaves
And some small seeds.
I watered, nurtured, and cherished it
And it was my new hobby

Time went by
We weren't meant to be together forever
The ring of time flies
My Canna plant dies

A few days later, my uncle gifts me a plant
I thank him from the depth of my heart
"I really like it! ' I said
With the pot in my hand, he left.

There were big blooming flowers
A priceless gift for plant lovers.
I watered, nurtured, and cherished it
It was my new buddy.

Time went by
We weren't meant to be together forever
I had just matured my green fingers
When a bug bit them, the swelling lingers

I rushed to the hospital, wailing in pain.
All my love had been betrayed.
I threw it away as rapidly as I could.
Again, deserted I stood.

Today I think, reflect, and ask?
Were these plants behaving like us?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sometimes, the people we love the most can hurt us the most, either intentionally or unintentionally. When they move far away, it hurts us. When they die, it bruises us. But when they betray, it tears us apart. This poem is a metaphorical representation that compares the behavior of plants with humans. P.S. Ghost readers are the deadliest creatures on this planet.
