The Chosen Poem by Rich Reitz

The Chosen

Rating: 5.0

Hated for centuries.
Persecuted since the time of Moses by
Egyptians...Babylonians...Assyrians...
Romans...Muslims...
Diaspora- the Scattering.
Ages of despair
Culminating in
Kristallnacht.
'Juden, raus! '
Yellow Star of David.
Dachau.
Belsen.
Auschwitz.
Selection... the 'Final Solution'.
An entire race to become like
Volcanic ash belching from Nazi ovens.
The molten lava of six million souls.

Liberation for the few survivors.
Exodus to Palestine.
A new nation created-
ISRAEL.

Fighting for its very existence.
Rejoicing in Jerusalem
At the Wailing Wall on
The Temple Mount. Then...

Black September.
Murdered athletes at
The Munich Olympics...

Hostages rescued at Entebbe...

Palestinian terrorism...

Peace treaty with Egypt...

West Bank and Gaza...

Constantly threatened with extinction.
Hated for centuries.
But with new resolve-

'NEVER AGAIN'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
If Muslims, Jews, and Christians all claim to be descended from Father Abraham, why can't we all get along peacefully?
