The Classroom Poem by Vidya Murali

The Classroom

Rating: 5.0

The flower enters
the garden
And addresses the
tiny butterflies

The flower fills the garden
with her gentle voice
And the butterflies
dance to the rhythm

The flower sways
from left to right
The butterflies move
their wings to learn

The flower buzzes around
to teach them gently
Tiny butterflies still
in their places

The butterflies are filled
with nectar now...
It's time to fly back
to their hives!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem is full of metaphors. It is about how a teacher handles the class. Flower denotes the teacher and the garden is a classroom and the butterflies are the kids. Normally butterflies enter the garden but here the flower (teacher) enters the garden and it goes around the butterflies and teaches the kids and ‘sways from left to right ‘ denotes writing.

Thanks a lot dear poet Dr Tony. The poem ‘The Classroom’ was written while checking my kids’ notebooks. It was really a surprise and wonderful experience.
