The Clock Strikes Poem by Anders Lim

The Clock Strikes

The clock strikes again
In some distant celestial setting
A bright silver-blue star
Ends its life with a majestic flash
And;

The clock strikes again
Simultaneously, a million hearts
Beat in a faint contrast
As a signal of life
And;

The clock strikes again
Beneath the ocean floors
Mother Earth cracks open
Sending sonic waves to shore
And;

The clock strikes again
Within a dark forest
A daring wolf cries out
Head to the heavens
And;

The clock strikes again
And again, and again,
Once more it strikes…

And with each strike
Only one thought
Resonates in this fragile mind
A single thought of you
And;

Everything that has yet to come
Regardless its magnitude
Will cower in shame
Of that single thought
And;

Its significance outweighs
Any celestial plans
Human thought
Earthly bounds
Nature’s beasts
And;

I love you.
