Mom had dropped us in a rush,
We'd risen late from bed.
Another day in Catholic school,
That place of fear and dread.
In the classroom kids prepared,
To learn their lessons well.
But I was left preoccupied…
In my own private hell.
I didn't know what happened then…
Just didn't understand.
I needed to be close to you...
And tightly hold your hand
And as the teacher closed the door,
It made that horrid creak.
My heart it sank in deep despair,
A tear ran down my cheek.
