The Consummate Gift Poem by Mukesh Williams

The Consummate Gift

(for Derrida)
Give me a gift without equivalence,
Par excellence,
For which I cannot thank you enough,

For which I cannot erase my debt
In any language, idiom
Or matching memento.

Give me a gift which I cannot encircle
With my munificence,
To which I cannot say thank you!
