The Countdown-10 Poem by Smrui Ranjan Mohanty

The Countdown-10

THE COUNTDOWN-10

Does not matter
What others think about
But what touches hard
Is how your own look at you?
How do they accept the emperor
Who has lost his empire forever?

No issue
Where are you on the societal scale
What concerns
Are you going down
In the eyes of your own
For whom
Once you were the sun
Around whom they revolved?
Will they remember
Once there was the full sun
Reigning their blue heaven
Or will they go for
Another star in the distant sky?

What pinches like a new shoe
Will they accept you
The same way they used to
Or their priorities will redefine you?
You know not
Where you will fit in the trusted social system
How it will absorb a nonperforming person
Finding it difficult to deliver any more

People keep on changing
Don't try to keep pace with their changing
Moods and priorities
Never try to fit into others' scheme
You will not remain yourself
May only end up becoming
A poor shadow of your old self
