THE COUNTDOWN-19
Over the years
Accepted life as it is
Sometimes it was as beautiful
As a flowing stream.
Sometimes it was as hard
As a rocky mountain terrain
Never complained
Accepted things as they came my way
Always with life
Its vagaries, changing colours and needs
At a loss to understand
Why I am not able to accept something
Which I was expecting since the beginning.
Why so much hesitation and heart burning
To be with something inevitable?
Is it larger than life
Is it something
On which life rests
Without which life will be in jeopardy?
Know not
When the chair became more important
Than the incumbent
An obsession
Around which revolved
One's love, life and passion?
The irony is that
The system silently watches
People coming and going
Living, loving and enduring it
The system never gets involved
Hardly feels one's pulse and feelings
When alienation silently grips
Why so much longing for a machine
Which listens to none except its tuning
Why so much fascination for something
That does not have a heart of its own?
Why so much attachment to a place
Where matters nothing but professionalism
