The Countdown-23 Poem by Smrui Ranjan Mohanty

The Countdown-23

THE COUNTDOWN-23

Today I am here
Tomorrow I will not be
That is how life is
It moves ahead on in its way
Without caring for one's feeling
Leaving moments of
Happiness and sorrow far behind

Silently my footprints will wither
My face will disappear
My voice will not resound anymore
But things will remain as before
As if nothing has happened
Man forgets
That is why his elasticity to
Compromise and accommodate never ends

Those beautiful moments of
Sharing, caring, loving, living
And enduring will be memories of the past.
Yet faces will remain as fresh as they are
Memory may fade
But It will be with me
As my biggest treasure
Wherever I find myself
Heaven or hell no matter

Voids never remain
Someone somewhere is waiting
To fill up the gap
Hope someone more humane
More caring will find his way

Time will decide
Where and how I will be
In a world
That has hardly anytime
For a tottering body and mind
