The Cry Of The Heart Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

The Cry Of The Heart

No toil can dim my workspace daily cheer,
In joy the busy hours of day depart;
Yet unawares, a sudden flame draws near,
And burns with silent fire my bleeding heart.

The one I love doth launch a daily blade,
With cruel insults is my spirit ground;
By bitter words a toxic trap is made,
As venom kills my life and peace unbound.

Within my heart's dark cage, sharp pangs awake,
In terror shake my shattered nerves and chest;
My stifled throat can form no speech to break,
No more can life endure this shameful test.

Yet thus at last this beating heart shall die;
At Time's great gates, true Death is not a lie.
