The Cup Of Life Poem by alka almika

The Cup Of Life

The half emptied cup of life
appearing half-filled to others;
pains disguised in the attire of smiles.

A little movement brings storm on the surface
but the raising waves unable to reach the shore;
smothered back into the cage of traditions.

Unable to break the boundaries and chains
struggling between love and freedom;
the ebbing feelings after the full moon.

Is the tide not better having power enough
To move wherever it desires to go;
surpassing the congested banks to endure?

Life is like a disguised enemy
luring to achieve success and fame;
snatching love and peace in return.

Never be befooled by the glaring dreams
happinesses are limited and short-lived;
sorrows countless and permanent.

Not having anything is the only way
to lead a peaceful life whatever it is;
achievements bring the fear of detachment.

Love disappears before it is enjoyed
life looses charm ere it is lived;
joys temporary and illusion of eyes only.
