The Dance Poem by Troy Anthony

The Dance

Rating: 5.0

I dance to the beat of a broken heart
with a mask that hides the tears beneath.
It smiles and laughs, and mocks the soul.
It reaches out, its final goal.

Oh to live without fear, to live without soul
to live with a heart that's finally whole.

I scream through the crowd though, the dancing goes on.
The face in the dark has finally won.
I accept this fate and sign the deal
for there's nothing left here to steal.
And as I take my final dance, to the beat of this broken heart
I see the life without fear
the life without soul
the life with a heart that is finally whole
And realize, it is no life at all.
