The Dark People Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Dark People

in this place
the light is simply turned off

or if there is
it is out there and here
we we are
without an opening

out there they all
bask under the sun without
their sunglasses

they can have all the sea
and the air
and make love the way they
want to
at any time of their wanting

they say some people are born
to be without any light at all
no sun
no roam for growing
they only deserve a cell
and its four corners and that
is all the best that they can give
for the meantime
