The Day I Lost You Poem by edward barskiye

The Day I Lost You

The day I lost you I lost two lives
Yours and mine
So what words could possibly define
A love that felt so divine
But is now separated by the line
Of what we call life and death
Like a ghost I hide inside these walls
That create my prison I call life
It was only when I died
That I was able to decide
To leave everything behind
All I am now is a shadow
Of the struggles of the past
A true living reminder
That nothing perfect ever lasts.
