The Day I Met Me Poem by Samuel Adara

The Day I Met Me

The day i met me,
I saw me a battered raft in the midst of a roaring storm, hanging on by the last thread of will.
Minuscle i felt tossed around in the chaotic waves of reality. Lost i was in the midst of my many demons. How i wish i had somthing of sorts to anchor me. How i wish i had a compass to direct my path.

The day i met me,
I saw nothing real,
I saw me a figment of my own imagination.
That was when i realized that there was no me.
I existed only in a world of my own creation.
A world i thought existed beyond the crevices of my mind.
A world crafted and defined by my flawed perception of reality.

The day i saw me,
baffled i was by the breadth of my horizons. Surprised by the depth of the new sea i found my self.
Then i realised i was in a completely new world.
A world where my hands could reach the sky.
A world where i could commune with the sun and moon.
Where the stars were my playmates.
A world where what i saw as impossible where within my reach.
That is when i saw that i could be who and what i wanted to be.
All i had to do is to BELIEVE
