The Day The Sky Cried Poem by Abdulrahman Abdullah

The Day The Sky Cried

Went to his room, it was so cool,
Inside, I whispered hi
Preparing to head to school,
Time to leave so I waved and whispered bye,
Long drive making me sleep
To take a peek at my living nightmare,
Why did that dream creep?
The only funeral which I dare to say rare!
Denial started to burn in my head,
No it can't be, it’s just a dream, it isn't real
It can't be him, no way is he dead
Why? Doubting the dream, why can't I feel?
Called upon in school, to find the truth,
Hold up why are you keeping me in the dark?
I'm about to burst get me out of the booth!
Let go, I wanna know, just nark!
'Poor sir' what do mean, why are you crying?
Denial is overlapping what if it’s true?
Head to knees, tears started flying!
I knew all along, but why is it you?
Reached where he was surrounded by THEM,
I was now the one, the only man standing
Stay away I'm confused is it him?
Wake up, I'm here patiently waiting
To realize that it’s time for the world to mourn
Every human being good or bad, friend or foreign
That was the day the sky cried
The day my father died
