The Day You Slipped Away Poem by Sandra Marie

The Day You Slipped Away

The Day you left this earth
I was hurt like I never was.
Even though at first
I ask 'where is he? '.

I saw my father
for the first time with
Tears rolling down on his face
I look around in a puzzled way.

As my brother says
'They had to put him to sleep'
I said 'No your lying, please tell me you are'
He looked down not looking at me.

I ran to somewhere.
They wouldn't find me.
Crying and mourning
Saying why? ! why him? !

Now I say to him.
I saw you as my friend
Like others
In this world would say.

But I saw you
As my brother.
I didn't care if you were
Just a regular dog.

You were my first friend
Who knew when I was pain.
When I was happy,
You were one of a kind.

I love you
and I will remember you.
