The Daybreak.. Poem by Safiyya Syed

The Daybreak..

Amidst the darkness of the night,
There stands a veil which seldom blows away...
Though the moon shines upon your face so bright,
Does it make its way into your heart?

Men I have seen,
Known to be selfish.
Oh, women too, you declare!
Yet again, I can't resist myself from feeling bare.

Dare or truth? Which shall you play?
No half-truths, for all You care!
Let tonight lead us to a better concern,
For if it's you who loves me or none!

Crushed by the setting sun,
The moon knows it's place.
The love will not bloom yet,
A constant grace relates.

The sun so powerful and strong,
Makes every man coveth and bite.
The splendour of the feminine moon,
Oh filled with beauty! The enchantress! The Queen!

Does not the moon deserve the treasures?
Or does she have to face the tempest?
For the sun, who knows her worth,
Must readily pour into her cup his best!

Not long ago, they told me,
Tales of old between the two.
If it was as they claimed,
Then why oh why? Such terrible blame!

Not everything in this world is clear,
True love never does contempt.
For contempt comes from a place that's evil,
And evil relates to hatred and enmity.
