The Deep Blue Sky Poem by Amelia Patterson

The Deep Blue Sky

As fallen stars plummet,
I lay here
Helpless as
A fish in the sea.

When you were young,
Do you remember?
Standing in the night
And gazing into
A deep pool of stars?

The innocence of youth
Caresses us all
In luscious velvet silk,
And
This heavenly vision
Creates a film over
Our small eyes.

The bright fire sprinkles
On a delicious cake
Celebrating Mother’s
Long, fruitful life.

I do not question when this shall end,
But only
If you will be there, in the place of Perfection
When it does.
