The Demon Lord (Part Ii) Poem by Phillip Dodham Cormier

The Demon Lord (Part Ii)

The air is thick
Smoke rises from the flames
In the distance something is seen
The fire engulfs humanity
Yet in the distance something is seen
The back broken slaves of The Demon Lord stare into the Horizon
Their prays go unanswered
What is it they want?
The days of heroes are long dead
No one dares oppose the Demon Lord
His flames spread across the land
His minions torture all
Yet in the distance something is seen
Harder and harder humanity works to appease the Demon Lord
Nothing pleases him
The fire grows
The pain increases
None can escape
Humanity prays
Humanity begs
Yet no one hears
Yet no one comes
The flames engulf them
Humanity is lost
Yet something is seen in the distance
The flames close in on humanity
Soon their prayers are gone
Their begging has stopped
No longer do they care
They care only for the will of The Demon Lord
Fire and brimstone have become normal to them
They do not fear the fire
Some still pray
Still something is seen in the distance
And it is getting closer
