The Door To A New Beginning - Poem by Rik Bertrand
I was dreaming, I was running, I had no idea what I was running for
I did not know why, and I did not care, but I needed to pass through that door
I did not understand the reason for my urgency, but I knew that I must explore.
This life of mine is endings, and this door could be my new beginning, a calling I can't ignore.
I was dreaming, I am sure that it was a dream, yet the colors were so vivid and the path so clear
Could it have been a vision, an idea placed in my head, so that when my time came I would not fear?
I see it clearly now, just the way it was, the long stairs leading through the clouded sky,
I know that there is a logical reason, for wanting to pass through that door, I just don't know why.
Wait I see the door again, I am fully awake, and I know that I am not dreaming,
I hear the voices calling, you can not truly hear them, but in my head they are screaming,
Screaming but soothing, there telling me that the steps lead the door of a new beginning
They say that it time to go and there is no more time for pretending.
And as I reach that bright white door at the top of the steps to the sky,
I have no question as to what is behind it, and I am not going to ask the why.
All I know is peace is waiting quietly on the other side,
And I have made the decision to pass through it, to begin my new found ride.
