The Dragon Poem by balasar sharptooth

The Dragon

steel upon flesh made me feel again
for a split second numbness replaced with pain
followed with the urge to feel again
numbness like a great dragon could be slain
I drew my sword and began the fight
every slash the dragon took flight
always returning despite how deep my sword cut
for years the dragon and I fought scarred and tired
after a decade of darkness left in his wake
the sun peered through the dark sky's
with a great tremor the dragon took flight
was my fight finished a torture in its own
but there was a bitter sweet relief in his retreat
always on guard in fear of his fury returning
nothing good can last he has landed again
we clash snarling, fire burning my skin
blades slashing, cutting claws tearing lines upon me
the fight taking its toll upon my body
a battle others never see most never understand.
an invisible war
