The Dreamer Poem by John Duffy

The Dreamer

Somewhere just beyond my reach
There must be someone
Reaching out just for me

Through deep snow
The rains and storms

I can feel their approach
Like swirling heat seducing
My veins

Late at night
I lay awake
Staring at the blank ceiling

Dreaming of what I need
To consume with greed

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest dreams

I could swear there is someone there

Just hidden from sight
Somewhere
Watching me

I awake

Heat
Singing a reverie
Within my blood

As I drown within emotions
Fast flowing floods
