The Dungeon Poem by Sam Byron

The Dungeon

When you said
It’s over
I wanted to forget you
But I guess I forgot to.

When
I reach for someone new,
It’s like I’m touching you.

You’re gone to far
With your love.
Set the standards
Too high.

Because no one
It seems
Can go
Where you’ve gone.

You’ve embedded yourself,
So deep inside my heart,
I can’t you out,
Nor can I just push you aside.

So I set barriers
Meant for my own good.
But now it seems
No one can knock them down

You’ve got only key
That can open the dungeon of my heart.
I realize I made one mistake now

I forgot to make a spare

And it’s too late
To make it now,
As you’ve told me,
That yours was thrown away
Along with your love with me
