The Egotistical Poem by Francis Duggan

The Egotistical

He is just a lazy bugger one who sits on his easy chair
Whilst we have to work for our living and support one like him on welfare
And whilst we are working our butts off he sits at home every day
So the conservative minded people amongst themselves whisper and say.

He is devoid of self respect and of work he has always been shy
Nor will he ever be successful success is only for those who try
We have a right for to judge him he lives off of the taxes we pay
And we are true God fearing people and we live in the proper way.

We look up to the Prime Minister he is such a wonderful bloke
When he took over high office the Country was financially broke
He has cut back on dole bludgers and helps the likes of Rupert Murdoch instead
To us it's right the mega wealthy of others are so much ahead.

We are conservative people and we happen to believe that the poor
If they happened to think the way we think they like us would be financially secure
It's not our fault if in slums they were born or have been the victims of abuse
A bad start in life in our opinion for failure is not an excuse.

We feel we are the chosen people and that God he sees us as his own
The good seeds planted by the prophets who into good people have grown
With left wingers with socialist thinkings we vehemently disagree
They side with the poor and the homeless and excuse them for their poverty.

I speak of egotistical people those who for others lack in empathy
They are our self appointed judges those who besmear humanity
That is so abundant in others superior people to them one might say
But to make the World it does take all kinds and it has always been that way.
