The Emergency Exit - Poem by Timothy muggaga

The doors are closed
and the heat is rising
Flesh is scotching
orphans in the making
while the majority are watching

The way is hidden
and the storms are rushing
into the ocean of living
The winds are crushing
onto the shores of healing

The day is gone
and darkness is falling
upon the land of hoping.
The cancer is eating
and the remnant are weeping

Yet through it all;
there's a way of surviving
living another day rejoicing
with cancer crushing
under our wits of knowing
