The End Poem by Sarah Holmes

The End

I don't want to leave you,
I don't want to walk away.
But I have no choice,
I just can't stay.

Please don't say you're sorry,
please don't say you love me so.
It will hurt you all the more,
When I have to go.

You want this to work,
You want us to carry on.
But somehow it can't,
It's just all wrong.

I can't cope with not knowing,
I can't cope with him and you.
I guess this is over,
I suppose we are through.

I didn't think I'd say this,
I didn't think we wouldn't last.
I need to forget this,
And put us in the past.

I just can't leave you,
I just can't walk away.
But I know I have no choice,
I just can not stay.
