The end was near,
I could feel it.
But it wasn’t how I had thought.
None of us had thought.
We weren’t prepared,
For what came next shocked us all.
We braced for impact,
Feeling the terror.
Boiling around us.
Dancing on everyone’s faces.
I closed my eyes,
Not ready at all.
For what was coming.
For me,
For all of us.
And as the darkness approached,
I whispered a small prayer,
Of hope.
