The English In America Poem by alana maraj

The English In America

I saw them first, i`m sad to say
The great white ships just out there
My people and I, ran to greet them...
The greatest mistake we ever made.

They were of strange colour,
White as the lily
Bearing gifts unknown to our land
In return we gave them gold
Never dreaming they would ask for more.

We were open and honest
But they turned around,
Stabbed us and threw us to the ground
They made us into slaves
Brought with them sickness
Killing out my tribe

Now it is I and I alone,
I stand on the cliff
I say to myself no, no I`ll be a slave no more
I jump and feel myself falling, falling
NO, NO...I`ll be a slave no more...
