The Face Of Freedom Poem by Joshua Van Der Merwe

The Face Of Freedom

I can see that place now
my perfect landscape
an unending one
that open horizon
my freedom,
my heart races wild
running through the fields
searching for the boundry
but I find none
now I can rest
nothing keeps me in
I am myself for the first time
words cannot express
but words are all I have
emotions overflow
and they are all that is real
nothing else matters
what now...
what now...
I have this gift
but,
there is no one with me
in others there is strength
here, I am free
but alone
and then I see Him walking towards me
He gazes into my soul
He says I understand
I know
I care, and I am with you
by yourself you are free
but with me, you have hope
find strength in me my son
I have seen your heart
now look into mine
see my plan for you
just try to see my love for you
look at these holes in my hands!
I stand silenced
what did I do to deserve this I ask Him
you did nothing He says
except that you chose me
and the joy that I have because of that!
I look up, and see the face of freedom.
all this time I thought it was a place.
